ART

THE PACIFIC REGION THROUGH AI EYES & EARS

This piece was a collection of 24 large 8K images and soundscapes exhibited within a unique space provided by the NTT Innovation Center in San Francisco.  It was part of an exhibition for the “The Future Starts in California” track of the APEC conference.

Each image and soundscape in this collection tells a story of appreciation and beauty. From the towering skyscrapers of Kuala Lumpur to the serene fields of Indonesia to the rugged beauty of the Canadian Rockies, these works invite viewers to embark on a journey of exploration and reflection. Through the lens of AI, we can see how our world is shaped by the fusion of tradition and progress, of ancient wisdom and cutting-edge technology.

In 2023, as the global community faces complex challenges, from climate change to economic inequality, it is crucial that we continue to innovate together. Our hope is that this collection serves as a reminder of the beauty and inspiration that surround us and encourages everyone to work together, across borders and cultures, to create a better
future.

“The Pacific Region through AI Eyes” is a testament to the shared human experience, a celebration of our interconnectedness, and a call to embrace innovation as a tool for positive change. Through art, we can bridge divides, foster understanding, and inspire action. As we navigate the challenges and opportunities of the 21st century, let us continue to innovate, appreciate the beauty of our world, and build a more harmonious future together.

NOVEMBER 2023

This work was displayed in the 360 degree Immersion Room inside the NTT Innovation Center (diagram to right) in San Francisco during the 2023 APEC Summit.

The installation consisted of a series of images and sounds created with the help of AI, depicting the 12 APEC countries Carrie visited.

The space enabled a number of experiences:

A. Was a lounge space with chairs, and couches enabling the viewer to see the outermost 360* image as well as the accompanying inner image.  (Test image from this perspective displayed at the top of the screen.)

B &C. Were exterior views of the outer images

D. 360 Room with movable doors, including bespoke soundscapes created by Jason Reinier.
