MOUNT MYRTLE

Winter of 2023 has been a crazy one for the Tahoe region. One afternoon the road was closed so we strapped on our gear and headed to Mount Myrtle (named after our cat), aka the backyard.

After a few days it was clear we needed a logo, so I dusted off my AI bot commands and started iterating on something that would be just perfect.

With a few specific commands and a quite a bit of brushing-up in Illustrator the following logo was created.

1. Command for MidJourney

I typed this command into MidJourney:

A ski resort logo in blue, white and orange for a resort named “Mount Myrtle” featuring a cat and a mountain, with the cat tail wrapping around to become a ski run with snowflakes in a midcentury modern aesthetic

Resulting in the grid above.

2. Ask for iterations on #2

I liked parts of all of the first logos, but number one looked too much like a kitten, number three didn’t feature enough mountains, and number 4 was a little too cartoony for my taste.

I went through a number of iterations at this point. Resulting in the grid above.

3. Clean and Add Text in Illustrator

Despite entering the text I was looking for the text in the images rendered by MidJourney was gibberish – I spent time finding an appropriate font, tracing the letters and hand positioning them into the image

I also rendered a black and white version in Illustrator to create t-shirts for friends and family who have experienced the awe-inspiring gnar that is Mount Myrtle.
